GIVEAWAY: Traveling During Shedding Season #PetHairSolutions

pethairsolutions

Let’s face it: hair happens. Around our house, we’ve come to expect and accept shed dog hair on ourselves and on our furniture, especially during shedding season.

But when we travel with Irie and Tiki, we want to put our best paw forward…which means NOT leaving a trail of curly white Tiki hair and short, spiky Irie hair as we go. While we always travel with old bedsheets to drape over the hotel bed and couch, if the room has one, we also don’t want to leave shed hair anywhere in the room. As we all know, it finds its way, like furry tumbleweeds, into every corner of every room.

When we’re traveling, we bring along a FURminator deShedding tool to keep hair from raining down on hotel rooms…

Using the FURminator shedding solutions products helps reduce shedding up to 90 percent…and that’s a lot of Tiki and Irie hair!

I brush once a week too and also take a latex glove and rub them with it to remove some loose fur. Then I do a long grooming about every 3 weeks. Murphy & Izzo just had baths too.

  • Heartprints Pets

    We brush daily.

  • Linda Szymoniak

With five Treeing Walker Coonhounds and three cats, including a Maine Coon with long fur, I have my hands full when it comes to brushing my furbabies. The two short-haired cats pretty much take care of their own, and my five Coonhounds will get brushed anywhere from once a week, during low shedding time, to daily, when they are shedding heavily. Mostly it’s my boy, Seiji, who needs to be brushed more often since he has longer, fuller fur than my other four dogs. Koneko, my Maine Coon, actually needs a daily brush all year round, so luckily other family members help with him. He tangles quite a bit if we don’t keep up with the brushing, and even then he’ll still get tangles.

    • Linda Szymoniak

I did want to add that when I brush “daily”, it’s more a case of a touch-up and not a full brushing. My dogs are short haired, which really helps.

  • Brynn

I usually giver her a good brushing and bathing once a week

  • Deanna

My dog is brushed 3 times a week. But it seems like she needs it even more lately.

  • mickeyfan

In the summer we have Sophie shaved down, so the need for brushing diminishes. In the winter it’s about 3x week.

  • Jennifer Leigh Dace

I try to groom my fur kids really good once a week. However, during the shedding season, we get in 2-3 more days of a good brush down. We vaccuum every day to try and cut down on the hair floating around and the increase in brushing helps cut down on hair everywhere else in the house.

  • Daraya

I try to brush my dogs at least every other day!

  • http://www.barleythebordercollie.blogspot.com Beth

Barley hates to be brushed, so we do several (usually 3-4) short brushing sessions a week. She doesn’t mind my parents’ furminator as much as her brush.

  • Julie Price

I brush the golden retriever 2-3 times per week. The greyhounds are once a week.
