We’ve all heard that true beauty comes from within. Well, that especially holds true for our dogs–who don’t rely on cosmetics for their beauty but on a healthy skin and coat.

Today we’re excited to welcome a new giveaway sponsor to DogTipper: Isle of Dogs. Over the next three months, we’ll be bringing you reviews and giveaways from this company that makes a huge array of products formulated to promote beauty and wellness from within. From shampoos and other grooming products to treats and supplements, Isle of Dogs offers a full line of products all sourced and made in the US:

Real beauty goes beyond fluff. Isle of Dogs combines superior grooming products with premium natural treats and supplements to promote wellness and beauty from within. Our proprietary line of canine health and beauty products, sourced and made in the USA,  supports a beautifully balanced and joyful life. With a rich heritage in competitive dog shows, we know what makes dogs shine.

Our Irie has a longstanding history of skin issues (starting with demodectic mange when we adopted her) so we were especially eager to try the Isle of Dogs treats formulated to promote healthy skin structure and water barrier function:

irie-treat-closeup

First up: inner wellness. Isle of Dogs has a long line of treats using all-natural ingredients. Each is made from whole food sources including grains, fruits, vegetables and herbs with NO  synthetic vitamins, fillers or additives.  The range of treats covers all types of concerns: joint health, breath freshening, weight management, relaxation, puppy growth and more. You’ll find four product lines:

Within each of these lines, you’ll find treats that address your dog’s needs.

With Irie’s skin history, we selected Skin Soft & Chewy Dog Treats – Featuring Flaxseed & Kiwi Fruit. As the name suggests, the treats are soft and pliable. Whole flaxseeds and kiwi fruit are joined by cherries and apples for a sweet treat that Irie loved!

isle-of-dogs-closeup-2

Irie gets two treats a day to help maintain healthy skin from within. As you can see by the ingredients list, the treats contain plenty of wholesome goodness:

dried potatoes, potato starch, glycerin, malted barley flour, dried molasses, flaxseed, canola oil (preservative), maltodextrins, lecithin, beet powder color, kiwi, glucono-delta-lactone, citric acid (preservative), mono- and diglycerides, calcium propionate (preservative), dried cherries, dried apples, zinc proteinate, dried kelp, brewers dried yeast, dried parsley, mixed tocopherols, rosemary extract, yucca schidigera extract

Next up: outer beauty. As with their treats, Isle of Dogs has several lines of outer beauty products including:

  • Coature: customized for your dog, depending on coat type, skin issues, and desired style
  • CocoClean: a collection of shampoos, conditioners, and brush sprays that are soap-free, sulfate-free, paraben-free and infused with coconut oil
  • Everyday Elements: professional quality salon collection
  • Everyday NaturaLuxury: shampoos and conditioners specifically created with gentle sulfate and paraben-free formulations, high quality performance, and a fresh set of modern fragrances
  • Isle of Dogs Vanity Series: professional styling products

shampoo

We shampooed Irie with Silky Oatmeal Shampoo, a sulfate-free and paraben-free formulation from the Everyday Elements collection that also has built-in odor neutralizers, something that’s really important with Irie’s oily coat. Irie loves her daily swims–but gets an odor to her coat. We give her a weekly bath during the summer and, often, an extra bath when we’re planning a day trip or getaway that will involve indoor fun or a patio restaurant. We followed the bath with Silky Oatmeal Conditioner. Like the shampoo, it’s both sulfate- and paraben-free. Irie now smells fresh and clean–and ready for our next getaway!

Now it’s YOUR turn to try Isle of Dogs for your dog’s inner and outer beauty. We’ve got a great giveaway for an Isle of Dogs prize pack including treats, shampoo and conditioner to meet your dog’s special needs!

  • Liz

My hound suffers from skin allergies. He just finished a round of medication about a month and his skin still isn’t the best. I’ve tried a few products such as treats and supplements but haven’t had much luck. A big issue I have with him is his hound smell, I understand it helps him hunt and all but with his skin issues I’m very limited in what shampoos I can use to freshen him up. With him I’d like to try the skin soft and chewy dog treats along with the couture.
