Blog description: The FidoUniverse blog focuses on dogs and the people who love them in Los Angeles County. It offers tips on feeding, taking care of, grooming, and enjoying life together in LA. Occasionally, it will feature posts on dog-related historical events, such as the dogs of the Titanic or the founding of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Our true focus is on Los Angeles so we seek out uniquely LA activities to enjoy with a dog. Posts in this vein have included Rosie’s off-leash dog beach in Long Beach, the Blessing of the Animals on Olvera Street the day before Easter, unique dog parks such as the Wattles Mansion and gardens in Hollywood and where you can take your dog to get his photo taken with Santa Claus during the holidays.
What’s your favorite pet tip that you would like to share with fellow pet lovers?: Doing a weekly head-to-tail check of your dog helps you spot potential problems before they become major. It can be a soothing time for bonding with your dog as well. Lastly, it’s the perfect preparation for a grooming session because you can spot tangles, skin issues or sore spots before you pick up the brush.
About the blogger(s): Jeannette Hartman was inspired to become a dog blogger by her dog Joey, who was a frightened, distrustful rescue dog when she first met him in 2004. A marketing consultant, writer, web developer and photographer, Jeannette was at home with blogging from her first post in 2008. The process of building Joey’s trust, learning how best to take care of him and exploring the dog universe of Los Angeles has been a trail-and-error adventure. The blog is a way of sharing with others who love dogs what Jeannette has learned on her journey with Joey.
