Title: Saving Cinnamon: The Amazing True Story of a Missing Military Puppy and the Desperate Mission to Bring Her Home

Author: Christine Sullivan

Every dog lover fears losing a dog. A dropped leash, a sudden bolt, a brief opportunity through an open door can all lead to a lost dog situation that turns dog owner into dog searcher.

But imagine that loss occurring 7,000 miles away.

That is the setting for Saving Cinnamon, the uplifting story of the cinnamon-tinted stray dog rescued in Afghanistan by Navy Reservist Mark Feffer. When Mark decided to adopt the young dog, he worked to make the complicated arrangements for Cinnamon’s transport back to his home in the States, a trip that Cinnamon would be accompanied on by an experienced dog handler.

Just as everything seemed to be falling in place, plans all fell apart when Cinnamon was abandoned in the Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) Airport by the dog handler who was entrusted with her transport. For 44 days, Cinnamon was the subject of a relentless search headed by Mark’s sister, Christine Sullivan. Christine herself was a dog lover whose past work had included dog rescue after Hurricane Katrina.

The book weaves the suspenseful story of the search for Cinnamon against the backdrop of the around the clock work that is life in the military, all sprinkled with the correspondence that helped track down the precious dog.

This book is a sure hit with anyone who has ever worked to rescue a dog in any circumstance, and it serves as a reminder that love can be found in four-legged form anywhere in the world. Most of all, Saving Cinnamon reminds us all to never give up. Keep searching and keep working to rescue the dogs that work their way into our lives and into our hearts.

For a Good Cause: A portion of proceeds from this book is donated to rescues and spay/neuter programs.
