What It Is: Stylish pet beds sold as cushions and slipcovers, separately or in sets
DogTipper Review: Thanks to an offer from petLINENS, we had the chance to receive a pet bed and slipcover set for review. This new company offers pet beds sold much like human bedding: a high-quality mattress (make that cushion) along with stylish bedding. As with your own bedding, these covers easily slip off the bed to make a run to the washer; best of all, petLINENS sells slipcovers in sets of two so you can easily switch them out and Fido need never sleep on an unmade bed (even when you’re behind on the laundry.)
Our first step was to check out the petLinens.net site to select slipcovers. The choices are are numerous: woven tapestries, animal prints, quilted microfiber, cool blues, and printed twills. I’m on a green kick (spring is just around the corner, right??) so I opted for Apple Green quilted microfiber. Knowing how messy our two dogs can be, my second selection was an animal print, a brown and cream giraffe print on a plush fabric. Since our dogs are large (55 and 75 pounds), we opted for the rectangular bed (36″ x 45″ x 6 “); for smaller dogs up to 50 pounds, there’s a round bed (32″ x 6″ deep).
In just a few days, our shipment arrived, all beautifully packaged fine linens:
Along with the cushion and slipcovers, the set came with a Cushion Saver, a breathable, waterproof polyester cover to repel dirt and liquids.
The first slipcover we tried out was Apple Green, a gorgeous cover that’s the perfect combination of smooth (to easily brush off dog hair) and soft (if only they sold this in human bedspread size!)
A few days later when one afternoon gave a hint at spring, I decided to take the laptop out on the porch to work and took the dog bed along. Within minutes, I quickly switched out the covers. Rather than zippers, the covers open and close with several heavy-duty Velcro fastenings, making it super easy to change covers (the Cushion Saver also makes the slipcover slide on and off quickly).
All the slipcovers are machine washable so they’re extremely pet friendly–and truly stylish so they’re decor friendly. A definite paws up!!
