DogTipper Review: No one wants the same food day in, day out. (We have to take that back. Felix, one of our cats, wants absolutely no variety when it comes to mealtime.) Most of us, however, don’t want to face the same meal over and over again…but that’s a reality for many dogs. For some dogs, their diet remains constant because their owners don’t want to worry about upsetting their dog’s digestive system with a change in diet.
We can understand that. Our dogs test many foods and treats and, on occasion, our dog Irie has experienced diarrhea after a change of diet. Nothing too bad that didn’t quickly resolve itself but we can easily see how some dogs could experience more pronounced problems with a change in dog food.

Irie and Tiki check out the three bags in a ROTATIONS box.
So we were eager to test ROTATIONS, pet food that comes in three varieties made to complement each other so the switch between foods is easy on your dog. You can choose to switch from flavor to flavor with each meal (we feed twice daily which is what ROTATIONS also recommends) or you can switch flavors on different days. The variety of protein and carbohydrate sources ensure that your dog isn’t missing any elements in his diet…plus your dog will enjoy the change in flavors.
This premium pet food company sent us two sample adult boxes, one for each of our dogs, to try. (ROTATIONS also makes puppy and senior foods.) We put them to the test.
It was easy to see as soon as we opened the box that this was something different. Each box contained three separate resealable bags: chicken, salmon, and lamb. Each of the three flavors is made with lean protein sources and amino acids for strong muscles, a variety of fruits and vegetables for natural vitamins and antioxidants, and grains and fermentable fiber (no corn, wheat, or soy) for energy. The foods have no gluten, no artificial preservatives or ethoxyquin, no added sugar, and no artificial flavors, colors, or dyes.
We started with the chicken formula (which also contains blueberries, spinach, brown rice, oats and more.) We knew our dog Irie would love it (it may be her Lab heritage but Irie is a friend of all foods). Our Tiki is a far pickier eater. Would she like it? She loved it. The small-sized kibble slowed down their eating (we also feed them on flat plates so they can’t gobble their food as fast as they can in a bowl) and they ate it down to the last bite.
From chicken, we progressed to salmon, peas, and carrots, another hit. The best was saved for last, though: they went wild for the New Zealand lamb and potatoes.
Our dogs loved ROTATIONS. Our picky eater loved all three flavors and our more sensitive eater never had a bit of digestive upset in switching from flavor to flavor. A definite paws up!!
