DogTipper Review: Recently we had the opportunity to receive some review products from K9Cuisine.com, a company that specializes in premium and organic dog foods and treats (and also has a great selection of cat treats and products, too). We wanted to select one of their many premium dog foods to review (and the choice was difficult…they’ve got an incredible assortment.) After going through their extensive listings which includes information on each product including ingredients, an analysis, and user comments, we decided upon Osopure, an all-natural dog food from Artemis.
Made in the USA, this dog food uses human grade ingredients. Here’s a look at the ingredients list:
Ingredients: Chicken, Chicken Meal, Brown Rice, Barley, Rice Bran, Millet, Chicken Fat (Preserved with Mixed Tocopherols), Tomato Pomace, Flaxseed, Flavor Enhancer, Fish Meal, Choline Chloride, Dried Chicory Root, Green Tea Extract, Barley Grass Extract, Vitamin E Supplement, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Ferrous Sulfate, Zinc Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Potassium Iodide, Thiamine Mononitrate, Manganese Proteinate, Manganous Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, Biotin, Calcium Pantothenate, Manganese Sulfate, Sodium Selenite, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Vitamin B12 Supplement, Riboflavin, Vitamin D Supplement, Folic Acid.
Artemis also offers a line of dog foods named “Fresh Mix” that features several protein sources as well as fruits and vegetables. The Osopure line from Artemis, however, is made from a more streamlined list of ingredients with a single source of protein and no fruits and vegetables, all to help isolate possible protein-based allergies. Carbohydrates come from brown rice, barley and millet.
Although potential allergies weren’t a concern for us, we wanted to give a single protein source food a try with our dogs to test them on a more minimalist diet. Would they be bored? (One of our dogs, Tiki, is a picky, picky eater.)
Osopure was a big hit. They loved each meal (even our picky Tiki). A big paws up for Osopure!
Along with the Medium/Large Breed Dog Food, Osopure is also available in Small Breed Adult, Small Breed Puppy, and Power formulas.
