DogTipper Review: Although our dogs show no signs of allergies, we’re always on the lookout for ways to trim carb-laden foods from their diets. (Both Tiki and Irie are, as our vet tactfully put it last month, at the “upper end” of their optimum weight.)
We had the opportunity to receive two trial-size sample bags of the new NUTRISCA food. According to the NUTRISCA website, this is “one of the only grain free recipes without potato or tapioca, both of which are high on the glycemic index, and may contribute to weight gain.”
Instead of those ingredients, NUTRISCA uses chickpeas and peas, both sources for protein, fiber, and folic acid. Two recipes are available:
- Chicken and Chickpea
- Lamb and Chickpea
Our dogs loved both recipes but were especially crazy about the Lamb and Chickpea recipe (perhaps because they have chicken far more often.) Lamb is the first ingredient in this premium food which also includes flaxseed, salmon oil, carrots, cranberries, apricots, and more. The food is made in the USA.
The food is also especially notable for what it does not include; you’ll find no gluten, soy, corn, wheat, flour, BHA/BHT, acidified steroids, antibiotics, Ethoxyquin, added hormones, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or preservatives.
Paws up for NUTRISCA!
