On Veteran’s Day, it’s so fitting to highlight an incredible book about a soldier’s family’s efforts to bring home his dog from Afghanistan. Just released in paperback, Saving Cinnamon: The Amazing True Story of a Missing Military Puppy and the Desperate Mission to Bring Her Home
tells the story of a stray dog named Cinnamon who is rescued in Afghanistan by Navy Reservist Mark Feffer.
Feffer makes arrangements to adopt the dog and have her sent to his home, but on the transport to the States, Cinnamon becomes lost in Kyrgyzstan. The story that follows traces the efforts by the book’s author, Christine Sullivan (Feffer’s sister), to track down Cinnamon.
This book will make an excellent holiday present for dog lovers. The book is an uplifting read by an author who works to help rescues at home and abroad. [See complete review of hardback edition.] Priced at $10.11 on Amazon.
