DogTipper Review: With pets come pet stains, plain and simple. And, with six pets in our house, come, well, six sets of pet stains, from dirt and dog odor to cat urine and vomit. It’s just the price we pet lovers pay for all the love and fun our dogs and cats give us in return.

Recently we had the chance to receive a sample bottle of Simple Solution Stain & Odor Remover for review. The 32-ounce bottle was labeled “safe to use on carpets, upholstery, pet bedding, clothing, tile, and all other water-safe surfaces.”

Of special interest for cleaning urine stains, this cleaner uses a “professional strength ProBacteria ™ and enzyme formula” to discourage your dog or cat from returning to the scene of the crime!

The ingredients list is nice and simple (which we always like). Ingredients are purified water, natural non-pathogenic bacteria, denatured ethanol, natural enzymes, mild detergent, and fragrance.

The directions for use are equally simple. To use, first remove all solids and as much liquid as can be absorbed into a paper towel or rag. Next, saturate the stain, allowing it to reach the carpet backing and padding if you are cleaning a carpet or rug. Blot the excess with a paper towel then allow the area to dry naturally. When dry, the odor should be gone; if not, the product didn’t reach the source of the odor so you need to retreat, adding a little more this time.

We put the product to the test on an old urine stain. In our previous generations of cats, one of our cats, Snickers, urinated inside a floor vent. We didn’t discover the stain until she had marked this area several times. Today, years later, the vent is permanently closed off but occasionally I still catch the smell of cat urine when the heater is on.

I opened up the old vent and sprayed Simple Solution Stain & Odor Remover into the vent and old duct work itself then closed up the vent once again…and waited. Two days later, the heater kicked on and I walked by that old vent…and the odor was completely gone. I knelt down to take a sniff test a little closer up…and no more odor!

Paws up to Simple Solution Stain & Odor Remover!
