Getting Our New #MaytagMoms Washer & Dryer

Share with fellow dog lovers!

As I told you earlier this summer, we are SO excited to have been chosen #MaytagMoms to review the Maytag Bravos XL HE washer and dryer, especially as the pair applies to pet families like ours. We’ve been busy remodeling our laundry room so it’s almost as pretty as our new machines (looking at the deck through the back door you’ll see that the remodeling is still underway!)

For the past few weeks, we’ve been loving these extra-large machines (perfect for washing dog beds!) and loving the fact that they’re high-efficiency. We’ve never had a high-efficiency washer in our home before although water conservation is *always* on our minds, especially this time of the year. Depending solely on well water, we are always looking for ways to cut our water usage.

But, living so far out in the country, another big bonus to these new machines was reliability. It’s not easy to get a repairman out to our house (and the dogs hate it when we have service calls) so we really, really like machines we can count on. We both grew up with the image of the lonely Maytag repair man, the one who never got called, and we know that Maytag has been designing appliances for over 100 hundred years, something that we really feel good about.

Even though we both work at home full-time and are self-employed (maybe *because* we’re self-employed!), we have little (make that “no”) spare time to spend waiting for repairs. We want reliable appliances that we can depend on to remove stains (as a pet household, you know we get plenty of those) and let us get on with our busy days.

Of course, you all know that I suffer from pet allergies so we’re always looking for ways to cut back on pet allergens. We’re also surrounded by acres and acres of juniper trees. This winter those trees will shed so much pollen that it will look like there’s smoke in the air. From pet allergens to pollens, we’re always looking for ways to remove allergens from our clothes.

Well, we’ve found it:

See the “allergen” setting in the lower left corner? It’s one of 13 specialty cycles on our new machine, designed to eliminate 95 percent of common household allergens. We’ve already been giving that cycle a real workout! We’ve also used the “bulky” setting a lot as we clean couch covers and pet bedding to help reduce fleas naturally!

We’re going to be bringing you lots more about how we’re using our new Maytag Bravos machines in our pet household. They’re already off on the right paw, keeping our clothes and pet bedding clean and simplifying our busy days!

Disclosure: I wrote this post participating in an Maytag Moms Dependable Laundry Ambassador program by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Maytag. I was provided with the Maytag washer and dryer set to facilitate my post.
