Review: Cool Pet Pad at TheGreenPetShop.com

Share with fellow dog lovers!

As our regular readers know, it gets hot here. Really, really hot. Texas summers start in May and last until Halloween, with days varying between hot and hotter.

We’re always looking for ways to keep our dogs cool. Although they spend most of their time in the house in the summer months, we can tell that it’s still not cool enough for them; Tiki especially spends her days directly in front of (if not on top of) an air-conditioner vent:

So when we learned about Cool Pet Pad from The Green Pet Shop at last month’s Global Pet Expo, we were definitely interested in trying it out with Tiki and Irie. The Cool Pet Pad is, as the name suggests, a cooling mat for your dog (or cat). But here’s what makes this non-electric mat unique: you do not need to refrigerate the mat or get it wet for it to work! All you do is spread the mat out and let your dog lie down. The weight of your dog activates the non-toxic gel inside the mat and it remains cool for three or four hours.

We put it to the test. First we tried it in the living room. Tiki was on it before we could do more than grab our iPhone for a quick photo:

Next, we tried it upstairs, setting up Tiki’s mat directly beside her bed in my office. Which would she pick?

Next, we went into John’s office to set up Irie’s mat…but before she could lie down, our cat Felix decided to prove that this was a Cool PET Pad, not just a Cool Dog Pad!

Soon, though, it was Irie’s turn!

Both Irie and Tiki give the Cool Pet Pad a big paws up.

Sizes: The mat is available in four sizes. (The photos in this post are of the Large size.)
