Freedom from Fleas on our Nursing Home Visits

Share with fellow dog lovers!

This post is sponsored by Mirum, but opinions expressed are my own.

Summer has definitely arrived in Texas–and that means high temperatures (114 degree heat index, seriously?) and…you guessed it, fleas. This spring was an unusually rainy one for us, too, which means the flea population is even heartier than normal.

As our regular readers know, Barli and Tiki generally make a monthly trip to South Texas to visit our four relatives. They all reside in a nursing home, and John is their guardian. The nursing home is wonderfully welcoming to both dogs (and Barli is a pro, thanks to his nursing home therapy dog classes!)

Freedom From Fleas

Along with nail trims and grooming, before each trip we always make sure each dog is up to date on flea preventative–because fleas at a nursing home are a definite no-no. (And don’t let me get started on ticks!)

Several days before a trip to the nursing home, we make sure each dog is free from fleas and ticks.

This summer, whether you’ll be visiting relatives in a nursing home like Tiki and Barli–or visiting friends or enjoying a hotel stay–make sure you don’t bring any unwanted visitors along on your trip with PetArmor Plus for Dogs. It kills fleas, ticks, chewing lice, and flea eggs, all vital for the kind of visits Barli and Tiki make.

Since he’s smaller and harder to reach than Tiki, Barli has been trained to put his paws on the edge of the bed or chair for petting–and I can let him do so without worries of fleas.

It all adds up to a visit filled with a lot of dog cuddles–and no dog scratching!

Which Size of PetArmor Plus Is Right for Your Dog?

PetArmor Plus for Dogs is available in four sizes:

  • 4 to 22 pounds
  • 23 to 44 pounds (Barli’s size)
  • 45 to 88 pounds (Tiki’s size)
  • 89 to 132 pounds

It’s important to purchase the size appropriate for your dog (do not attempt to split doses between dogs). While it can be used on breeding, pregnant and lactating animals, it should NOT be used on dogs under 4 pounds and under 8 weeks of age. (And PetArmor Plus for Dogs is for dogs ONLY; you’ll also find PetArmor Plus for Cats for the feline members of your family.)

How to Apply PetArmor Plus for Dogs

Literally taking just a minute, it’s super simple to apply PetArmor Plus on your dog. Begin by separating one pack for the month’s dosage:

Hold the tube with notched end pointing up and away from your face and body then snip off the narrow end at the notches along the line. Invert the tube over your dog and use the open end to part your dog’s hair. Squeeze the tube firmly to apply all of the solution to your dog’s skin on a spot between your dog’s shoulder blades.

We typically apply PetArmor Plus a couple of days before a trip. After the application, you’ll want to keep treated pets apart from each other, other pets and children for 24 hours after treatment and until the product is dry, helping to prevent pets from ingesting the topical by licking or grooming one another.

PetArmor Plus for Dogs is also waterproof, making it an easy choice for summer swimming trips.
