Brushing Your Dog Daily

Is your dog short- or long-haired? Both types of hair require grooming, and it’s especially important as the seasons change when dogs shed more than usual.

Even when you’re busy, a ten-minute brushing session will take care of loose hairs. Use a stiff but not a harsh brush, working from head to tail and being careful of your dog’s eyes. A long-haired dog will take longer but, even on your most hectic days, it’s important to make a few minutes to work through his hair.

As you brush, run your hands along your dog, always looking for sores and bumps. Not only will this help you find any potential problems early but it will also get your dog accustomed to being handled, whether by you or a vet. With daily brushing, your dog will come to expect the grooming and maybe even enjoy it!
