Starting Your Puppy Off on the Right Paw

Just about everything a little puppy does is cute…even if it’s jumping up on you, nipping at you, barking for attention and food, and pawing at you to get your attention.

But that little puppy won’t stay little long. What’s endearing in a five-pound puppy will be annoying in a 20-pound half-grown puppy and painful in a 50-pound grown dog.

Start your puppy off on the right paw. Reward only his correct behaviors. If he’s pawing at you, don’t reward him with your attention but walk away. You’ll make life happier for you and your dog as he grows up and becomes an even more special part of your life.
