Preparing for a Move

Getting ready for a move is a huge job--and it gets even larger when you consider the needs of your dog. From the comings and goings of strangers (from potential home buyers and real estate agents to inspectors and movers), he's got a lot to deal with.

You can make the preparations for the move easier on your dog, though. Here are some tips from ERA Wilder Realty:

• Designate one room to remain just for your dog while the move proceeds.

• In this room, place all your dog's familiar toys, food and water bowls, bedding, etc. This way he'll have a reassuring territory while the moving preparations take place.

This will also minimize the chance of escape by anxious animals while people are coming and going from your house more than usual.
