How's Your Dog Etiquette?

You follow the rules of etiquette in your daily life, from your table manners to your office interactions. But how's your dog etiquette?
Bark Busters has issued some etiquette tips. (As the world's largest dog training company, you know they've seen their share of bad manners!) Check out these tips and ask yourself how your dog etiquette is in public and are there some steps you could undertake to improve it?
- Make sure your dog is under control when outdoors, whether that means leash control or voice control.
- When your dog is in an offleash area like a dog park, make sure he is under supervision at all times and under control.
- Always supervise your dog when around children. Can't keep an eye on him? Put your dog crate or some other safe place that's away from the kids. Remember: kids are three times more likely to receive a dog bite than adults and kids under 15 are at the most risk.
- Pick up after your dog. Keep clean-up bags with you at all times for doggy messes, no matter where they occur.
- If you have a drooling dog, always be prepared with a towel to clean up.
- When you and your dog meet walkers, hikers or runners on a trail, step aside so they can get around you.
- Don't bring your dog to a party without making sure the host intended to invite your dog (even if it's a summer picnic).
- Don't let your dog approach everyone; not everyone is comfortable with dogs.
- If a stranger wants to meet your dog, ask the stranger to allow the dog to approach him rather than the stranger approaching and petting your dog.

Great tips! Making sure you a supervising you dog at the dog park is such an important one!
Definitely such an important part of the dog park visit (which is definitely NOT the time to catch up on cell phone calls like we see all too often!) Thanks so much for your comment!
