Keeping Your Dog Safe at Easter Egg Hunts

Easter is just around the corner and with it will come Easter egg hunts. Easter eggs hunts are fun for the family but can be a hazard for dogs not just on Easter but in the following days.
Chocolate Easter eggs (not to mention chocolate Easter bunnies) are a particular danger for dogs since chocolate is toxic to dogs. While you may do your best to keep your dog away from them in your home, at Easter egg hunts they’ll be littering the ground.
Not attending an Easter egg hunt with your dog? Remember that not every egg will be found so days during your dog walk, your dog may discover a chocolate egg.
Man-made substances are another hazard surrounding Easter egg hunts. Fake plastic grass used to line Easter egg baskets can create a real hazard if ingested by your dog. (If you’re buying grass for your own children, opt for the paper instead of the plastic grass…or, even better, just some real grass clippings!) And discarded Easter egg candy wrappers, both plastic and foil, present another digestive danger.
Keep an eye out for these dangers not only over Easter weekend but in the following days. And if you see a chocolate egg, wrapper, or fake grass, hop to it and grab it before your dog!
