Looking for a Father’s Day present for a dog-loving Dad? Last month we covered ways you could honor Mom on Mother’s Day with a charitable dog gift; now it’s Dad’s turn! Check out these charitable dog organizations that offer both merchandise and gift-giving programs (perfect for last-minute gifts!)

AdoptAPet.com Opt for a one-time gift or a monthly donation at this site that features adoptable pets at over 7,000 shelters.

American Mutt-i-grees Club Show Dad’s support for mixed breed dogs with a donation to this agency operated by The Pet Savers Foundation, the development arm of The North Shore Animal League America.

ASPCA

You’ll find several good gift options on the ASPCA website. An ASPCA gift membership is $25 or more and includes a calendar, a free subscription to ASPCA Action and more. The ASPCA site also has gifts in honor of a loved one, memorial gifts, and more.

Best Friends Animal Society You’ll find an array of dog e-cards, all free, you can send Dad on Father’s Day plus plenty of donation options to help dogs at this incredible shelter that’s featured on the National Geographic Channel’s popular “Dogtown” series.

The Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation If Dad’s a Dog Whisperer fan, check out Cesar Millan’s foundation dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and placing abused and abandoned dogs. You’ll find all levels of giving starting with Cesar’s “Drive for Five,” a program with a goal of receiving just $5 from fans to help shelters and rescue organizations across the country.

Humane Society of Canada

The Humane Society of Canada has numerous options for dad in the Online Adventure Store with merchandise as well as giving programs such as the Animal Guardian Program for $30.

Local Shelters & Rescue Agencies

Don’t forget your local animal shelters and rescue organizations. In these tough economic times, they’re needing help as donations are down. Honor Dad with a donation in his community!

Petfinder.com Foundation We’re a fan of the the Sponsor-a-Pet program to help a needy animal at over 1100 shelters.

SPCA International You’ll find many great programs to support as a way of honoring Dad, from the No Buddy Gets Left Behind, a program to help US soldiers bring home their four-legged friends from the war zones, to the One Dog, One Day program to help a dog for as little as $10.
