Preparing for July 4th: Doggie Daycare
Yesterday's tip from Bark Busters covered preparing for the 4th of July fireworks, an event that scares so many dogs and causes many to bolt from their homes and yards and get lost.Today we have another great tip for those dog families that will be headed to parties and special events on July 4: look for local dog daycare and boarding in your area. If you can't be home to supervise your dog and distract him during the fireworks, this can be a safe option.
In Dallas, Unleashed Indoor Dog Parks, a $10 million facility that's the nation's first and only indoor, off-leash play park, is offering a special daycare event on July 4th to give pet owners a safe and secure place to leave their dogs so they can enjoy fireworks shows and festivities. Unleashed is offering pet-sitting from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. By taking advantage of evening daycare, pet owners will be able to make the most of the holiday while ensuring their beloved dogs are not only being well-cared for, but also having a great time enjoying off-leash play.
"We hope that by providing a safe, fun alternative for pet care on July 4th, we can give dog owners the independence to go out and enjoy the holiday, while knowing their dogs are being well-cared for. The 1am pick up time will allow for plenty of travel time for a leisurely, fun Independence Day!" said Unleashed Indoor Dog Parks co-founder Kelly Acree. For just $20, dog parents can drop off and pick-up their dogs between 6pm and 1am; overnight cage-free boarding is also available at standard rates.
If you'll be celebrating the Fourth of July away from home, check and see if any of your local doggie daycares are offering a similar option. Pet-sitting in your home is another possibility--but now's the time to make plans! posted by Paris and John @ 1:31 PM
