Packing for Labor Day Travel

Are you getting ready for a Labor Day trip with your dog? Whether it’s a long weekend getaway or just one more summer trip to the lake, it pays to put some pre-planning into the packing of your car.

In a previous piece, we’ve covered some things to pack for your dog, from extra a first aid kit to an extra leash — but we just received this helpful tip from DogJaunt.com, a dog travel blog that stars Chloe, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel! They recommend a couple of additions to that packing list:

I would just add a couple of things to this list — first is a towel or a small blanket, to protect the seat from your dog’s fur and drool, and to protect your dog from a hot or otherwise uncomfortable seat. Second is a window shade, like the ones parents use for babies, and for the same reason! If you’re on the shady side of the car, you may not realize how uncomfortable your dog is, over on the sunny side!

Excellent tips! How about you, readers: what items do you always pack for a car trip with your dog?
