Going Green with Poop Bags

It’s not too early to start thinking about New Year’s resolutions for you and your dog–and one of those resolutions can be helping your dog go green!

We’ve got a great tip here from Kari Whitman; along with being a special correspondent for Extra, she’s a true green guru and a great friend of dogs. Kari Whitman’s Greener Pup, her signature line of stylish, eco-friendly dog beds, uses recycled plastic bottles as filler –and here’s something else we really love: proceeds go to the Ace of Hearts Foundation, Kari’s non-profit dedicated to saving shelter dogs on the day they are to be euthanized and placing them in loving homes.

Here’s today’s tip from Kari Whitman’s Greener Pup:

Save money and the environment by crossing poop bags off your shopping list. Instead of buying new bags, recycle plastic bags from the grocery store, plastic newspaper sleeves, or newspapers themselves to pick up after your pooch. It’s 100% free and 100% as effective! Another great option are Scoopies — biodegradable bags that are easy to use. Plus their “mitten” shape is great for colder climates…just slide them on over your gloves.
