Making Your Dog Understand

588We all want our dogs to listen to us…but how can you make it extra easy for them? Today’s tip is from Love Your Pet Expo, an annual pet-friendly event and fundraiser in Anderson, California (this year scheduled for April 10). They’ve got some great advice that’s easy to remember:

If you always use the same words for a specific situation, and make the phrase unique, your dog will learn and understand. As an example, “No Cat” is a good phrase for a dog that wants to chase or “herd” the family cat. Since this phrase would probably never come up in conversation, it’s a perfect choice for making your dog understand.
