We all want our dogs to listen to us…but how can you make it extra easy for them? Today’s tip is from Love Your Pet Expo, an annual pet-friendly event and fundraiser in Anderson, California (this year scheduled for April 10). They’ve got some great advice that’s easy to remember:
If you always use the same words for a specific situation, and make the phrase unique, your dog will learn and understand. As an example, “No Cat” is a good phrase for a dog that wants to chase or “herd” the family cat. Since this phrase would probably never come up in conversation, it’s a perfect choice for making your dog understand.
