Maintaining an Annual Wellness Exam Schedule

Earlier this month, Tiki had her annual wellness exam at our veterinarian’s office, a time for checking everything out and seeing if we had any concerns. Fortunately, Tiki was doing great so, although she was checked head to tail, it was a pretty simple visit.
That annual visit, even when you don’t have any concerns, is one expense we recommend people do not cut from their budget. Sadly, we often hear from vets we talk with these days that may people are cutting back on that annual visit, trying to trim dog costs by skipping their dog’s annual exam. This can result in more veterinary expenditures, and it’s definitely not the place to cut costs.
Remember, your dog ages faster than you do; that annual veterinary exam is similar to you visiting your doctor every seven years. If you skip a few years, you are putting your dog at risk of dangerous—and expensive—health problems.
It’s less expensive and much better for your dog to visit the vet every year!
