Choosing Holiday Pet Sitters Early

christmas-bulldogYes, it’s still a long time until the holidays…but this is the perfect time to start making those pet care decisions if you’ll be out of town during the holiday season and need to hire a pet sitter.

We just ran across some important advice from PetSitUSA.com about the importance of making your pet sitting choices early, especially if you’ll be traveling during the busy holiday period.

“Pet parents are opting for in-home pet sitting services more than ever,” says Therese Kopiwoda, owner of PetsitUSA, ”and in spite of the growing number of pet sitting businesses, pet sitters are busier than ever during the holidays. It’s important for pet owners to know this and to get their reservations in early so the pet sitter of their choice will be caring for their pets and home.”

Kopiwoda also points out that the process of selecting a pet sitter involves far more than simply finding a pet sitter online or in the phone book and giving them the dates services are required. Before taking on a new client, pet sitters will require an in-home visit, commonly called a meet-and-greet. During this meeting, the pet sitter will document the type of care the pets will require, have the client complete the necessary paperwork, get keys and security codes, and go over fees and payment options. It is also the time when everyone involved – people and pets – will determine suitability. It’s essentially an interview for both parties, as well as the time to talk about details.

Would you be interested in running a “Top 10 Holiday Photo Tips” exclusively for your website. I have a book called PhoDOGraphy – and each holiday season I usually give a top ten list for taing your own holiday portraits. It could have a link to my website but I would also promote on my blog and face book pages in addition to letting you provide it to all your viewers. Let me know what you think. Best Regards, Kim Levin
