Looking for a way to save money on veterinary care? Check into first aid classes for dog lovers in your area.  These classes are often taught at local community colleges and sometimes dog-related businesses.

For about $60-$90, you can take a one-day class that will help you deal with minor problems you can handle at home, recognize which problems you must handle immediately with a visit to the veterinarian, and stabilize your dog in an emergency situation so you can rush him to the vet.

To find classes in your area, call your local shelter, talk with local dog businesses, and search online for “dog first aid class” and your city’s name.
