Halloween Tips: Dog Costumes

Do you dress your dog for Halloween? If so, it’s important to keep some safety tips in mind, just like you would if dressing a child for the occasion. We’ve got a special series of tips from Spooky Buddies, the Disney movie coming out on DVD on September 20. (We had the chance to attend the press premiere at BlogPaws…stay tuned for photos and more from that event..and a giveaway!)

The first in this special series of posts covers costume safety…so you can make this HOWL-o-ween fun for both you and your dog!

  • Your pet may like getting dressed up with the rest of the family, but make sure their costume is safe.
  • The outfit should not be too restrictive or tight.
  • Have a “dress rehearsal” a few days before Halloween to make sure they can move about easily.
  • Inspect the costume for loose or small parts that they could chew or swallow.
