Our plans are a little less ambitious but we’re looking forward to packing in a lot of summer fun for the dogs including:
- a trip to Port Aransas for a few days of beach fun
- monthly trips to the South Texas nursing home where John’s relatives reside
- a day trip to Enchanted Rock State Natural Area
- a day trip to Inks Lake State Park
- numerous afternoon trips to Lake Travis and Lake Georgetown
- weekly patio restaurant outings
- shopping activities with Barli to continue working on his public access skills before he takes his nursing home therapy dog test
Kicking Off Our Summer Travel
Just this week we headed to the nursing home for a visit with John’s relatives. It’s over a three-hour car ride from our house to the nursing home, but we always make a stop at at least one park on the way down so the dogs can stretch their legs. This trip, Barli and Tiki had the chance to visit Ms. Pearl, the world’s largest squirrel statue!
By the time we reach the nursing home, the dogs are always excited to visit their cousins then they’re ready to settle down for a nap.
Tiki likes the coolness of the tile floor…but Barli thinks the safety mat by the bed of John’s bedridden cousin is actually a dog bed and chooses it for his nap.
