Six Flags Fiesta Texas Offers Free Dog Kennels

This weekend, as part of a special bloggers’ day, we had the chance to visit the kennels at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. (Our dogs were hanging out at home but we asked to see the kennels so we could share some information and photos with DogTipper readers.)
The kennels are free for use for the dogs of Six Flags Fiesta Texas visitors. If you’re bringing your dog with you, go ahead and park your car and walk your dog to the entrance to the park. You’ll find the kennels to the right of the Guest Relations desk (where you purchase your tickets). We completely missed the kennels at first; it’s behind an unmarked door:

To get assistance dropping off or picking up your dog, use the phone located by the door to call security; they’ll come over to assist you. Your dog must have current vaccinations and registration tags.
Inside, the kennel was quiet with dogs enjoying an afternoon nap. The kennels are not air conditioned but do have roofs so they have shade; the kennels also have fans.

There were about half a dozen dogs of all sizes boarded at the kennel during our afternoon visit. Reservations are not needed and you can pick up your dog any time during the day to walk him on the grassy area in front of the kennels.
(Note: although you’ll be able to get your hand stamped to go in and out of the park–since the kennels are technically outside the park–you will need to go back through the security checkpoint each time you reenter the park.)
The kennels are open throughout park hours so visitors can remain through the evening fireworks. (Be aware that there will be loud fireworks so time your departure accordingly if that’s a concern with your dog). Dogs cannot be boarded overnight.
