A lucky Jack Russell Terrier named Watson was the first dog to ride the rails for free on board an Amtrak train thanks to the nationwide promotion. Escorted by Amtrak Executive Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Jason Molfetas, the tail-wagging traveler embarked on his journey from Union Station in Washington, D.C. on December 6th.

NOTE: “Pets Ride Free” tickets must be purchased at least three days prior to travel. Valid up to March 31, 2017, “Pets Ride Free” allows for one small dog or cat in an enclosed carrier on trips lasting no more than seven hours. Both the pet and carrier must be a combined weight of 20 pounds.
