Michigan Renaissance Festival Dog-Friendly

A road trip with Rover during the dog days of summer can turn into a time trip for travelers and their tail-wagging chums if they head down the highway that leads to the town of Holly, Michigan– the home of the Michigan Renaissance Festival.

One of only a few Renaissance faires across the country that welcome dogs, pet parents and pals with paws can enjoy the array of entertainment found on the 17-acre village on Hollygrove, ranging from fire eaters, jugglers and jesters to the toe-tapping tunes of Olde Worlde performers on 17 stages.

Royal Pet & Ale Fest

Along with allowing dogs to attend each weekend, the Michigan Renaissance Festival is also marking a decade of dogged devotion to four-legged faire fans in 2018 by kicking off this year’s festivities with the annual Royal Pet & Ale Fest.

Taking place August 18th and 19th, the “pup”ular weekend has the following Fido-centric activities lined up:

• From Rovers who rule in Queen Elizabeth I couture to Spots who want to tap into their inner swashbuckler, dogs can showcase their 16th century style in the Pet Costume Contest.
• Spectators can cheer on the dashing Dachshunds who will dart toward the finish line in the Wiener Dog Races.
• Pet parents and their barking buddies can check out vendor booths brimming with pet-related products and learn about fostering, pet nutrition, pet safety and much more!
• A celebration of the past will mark the start of a bright future for adoptable dogs from area rescue organizations, who will howl a hearty “Huzzah!” when they find forever families to love at the Renaissance festival!

How to Bring Your Dog to the Michigan Renaissance Festival

All dogs must be well-mannered, able to show proof of a rabies vaccination, and remain on a leash (which cannot extend beyond four feet) at all times. Only one dog per pet parent allowed. Pet guardians are responsible for cleaning up after their dog. Dogs must wear a festival tag, which must be able to be seen at all times while on festival grounds. Only dogs over the age of six months will be able to attend the festivities.

Admission: $23.95 for adults, $13.95 for children ages 5 – 12, $14.95; $10 per dog if you bring your own photo of Fido, $15 per dog if a member of the faire’s staff need to take a photo; $50 for a dog season pass
