Since 1891, San Antonio’s Fiesta, a 10-day event, has celebrated Texas independence; the party was later expanded to recognize the many cultures that make San Antonio what it is today.
The event also celebrates the city’s dogs with the Fiesta Pooch Parade. Marching through the city’s historic Alamo Heights, the parade winds for three miles. Proceeds stay in the San Antonio area to benefit the Animal Ambassador teams of the Delta Society of San Antonio; these therapy teams visit health care facilities and make educational presentations in the area.
Along with the parade, the event also includes several pre-walk activities including ARC Flyball Demonstration, SADTC Dancing Dogs, a silent auction, and a costume contest.
When: Saturday, April 25, 2009. Registration begins at 8am and the walk begins at 9:30am.
Where: Alamo Heights Swimming Pool, 250 Viesca, San Antonio, Texas
