In an attempt to break the world record for the biggest dog walk, Austin, Texas will host the Mighty Texas Dog Walk on Saturday, April 11, 2009. The event has been the two-time holder of the Guinness World Record for the “World’s Largest Dog Walk.” Presently the title is in Great Britain but the Texas dogs are rallying to return the title to the Lone Star State with a goal of over 10,500 dogs on the walk.

Now in its 11th year, the Mighty Texas Dog Walk benefits the Texas Hearing and Service Dogs. The event begins at 9am (starting earlier this year to beat the heat). The walk covers three miles of downtown Austin along Lady Bird Lake, starting and ending on the Congress Avenue Bridge.
