Photos from Austin’s Wag-n-Walk, 2009

On April 18, 2009, Austin, Texas celebrated its first Wag-n-Walk, an ASPCA event. Following a one-mile fundraising walk, a festival featured plenty of activities for two- and four-legged attendees at Zilker Park.

Orange was the color of the day in recognition of ASPCA and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Month:

Dogs large and small filled the park grounds at the old Rock Garden, just across from Barton Springs pool:


Adoptable puppies were a big draw:
As well as older adoptable dogs:
A dog agility course drew many participants new to the sport:
A photobooth caught memorable moments for best friends:
In true Austin tradition, a live concert pleased people and pets:

Special guest Kinky Friedman, whose Utopia, Texas ranch serves as a no-kill shelter, spoke about his upcoming fundraiser:
In spite of early morning rains, the event turned out to be a real treat for participants!
