Combining rustic wonders with recreation formatted for the entire family, The Resort at the Mountain is not only a sanctuary for sports enthusiasts but also a paradise for pooches.
Embraced by evergreens, the more than 300-acre retreat on the western slope of Oregon’s Mt. Hood offers plenty of places for Rover to roam. A map, which can be provided by resort staff, directs patrons and their pets to the Cascade Streamwatch Trail, a one-mile stretch dotted with streams and wetlands in Wildwood Park close by. Guests can also meander along a six-mile trail for a “fetch”ing view at nearby Ramona Falls, a perfect place for a picnic lunch, which can be arranged by hotel staff.
Dog-accommodating digs at the resort (which has recently undergone a $17 million renovation) are available on a first come, first served basis. A maximum of two of your tail-wagging chums, each weighing 50 pounds or less, can share one of the retreat’s select pet-friendly rooms with you for a one-time per stay fee of $50 for each Fido.
Accommodations are equipped with all the comforts of home, including a wood-burning fireplace, a 42″ HDTV plasma TV, wireless internet access and more. A pet etiquette letter is presented upon check-in, as well as a present for your pup.
Location: one hour southeast of Portland, Oregon
