Woofstock Weddings for Dogs, Toronto

Filed under 06: June events, Festivals

Twenty-five lucky dog couples will participate in the first ever Woofstock Weddings for Dogs, help at the historic Le Meridian King Edward Hotel in Toronto. This event, held a week before Woofstock (the largest outdoor dog festival in North America), celebrates canine commitment in the hotel that hosted the John and Yoko’s “Bed in for Peace” and Richard Burton’s proposal to Elizabeth Taylor. It’s all a special canine cancer fundraiser as well.

How to Participate: You’ll need to make contact in advance by emailing info@woofstock.ca. Put Weddings in the subject line then sum up the canine bride and/or groom’s story: how they met, name, age and breed of each dog that will be participating. Dogs will need to be dressed for a wedding!

The Ceremony: The canine brides will walk down the aisle followed by their “bridesmaids.” After the bow wow vows, celebrate the ceremony with doggie tea and a wedding cake made of doggie cupcakes.

Prize: The best dressed dog bride and groom will each win a honeymoon weekend package for two at the Le Meridian King Edward Hotel for their proud owners during the Woofstock® Festival for Dogs, June 13-14, 2009.

Cost: There’s voluntary $10 donation which goes to the Pet Trust Fund to support canine cancer research at the Ontario Veterinary College.

When: Sunday June 7, 2009, 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Where: Le Meridien King Edward Hotel, 37 King Street East, downtown Toronto
