Saturday, June 6, 2009 marked the first annual Picnic with Your Pooch in Georgetown, Texas. The event, a benefit for Georgetown’s Bark Park, drew an excellent crowd (in spite of 97 degree temperatures!) The barbecue picnic was held at Chandler Park, on the banks of the San Gabriel River.

The festival included a Best Tail Wagging Contest as well as a Best Kissing Contest:
and a low-cost microchipping clinic:

Mike Simpson, a parks board member who worked on the design of the Bark Park, spoke about the park (with the help of Remington, the beagle):
