It’s time again for the annual Paws in the Park in Cedar Park, Texas; this year’s event is Cirque de Pawrade! The fun will kick off with a parade at 11:30am (parade registration at 11am) and a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded for most original costume, scariest costume, best interpretation of the festival’s circus them, prettiest costume, and best owner/dog theme.
After the parade and costume contest, the fun turns to the five “circus rings,” each featuring a different kind of canine fun:
- Dog Olympics Ring: Look for most sits in 30 seconds, Rover Relays, and other fun activities for you and your dog.
- Trainer’s Ring: Learn some new tricks or brush up on your skills with techniques taught by several local trainers (including Dana Cooper who was profiled here on DogTipper recently!)
- Rescue & Adoption Ring: Learn more about a variety of breeds (and mixed breeds) and visit with some dogs looking for forever homes.
- Dog Sport Demonstration Ring: Freestyle dog dancing, carting, agility, and rally will all be demonstrated along with a demo by the Williamson County Sheriff’s K9 team.
- Children’s Ring: The kids will stay busy with plenty of crafts activities and more.
The event will also feature live music, plenty of vendors of special interest to dog families, a dog health information tent, and even storytelling with the Bow Wow Reading Dogs.
