This marks the first year for Bark in the Park, an event held at the Nottingham County Park, one of many area parks enjoyed by dog walkers. This day of dog-oriented fun include:
- an Ask the Vet! Station
- American Red Cross Dog First Aid
- Dog Safety lectures
- Good Citizenship Testing by the American Kennel Club (available for a $10 fee)
- dog demonstrations including retrieving, tracking, obedience and agility
- crafts and sale items for four-legged friends
- face painting
- photographic family portraits taken with your dog
The event will also include a ranger-led hike through Nottingham County Park; the park’s Serpentine Barrens were recently dedicated as a National Natural Landmark.
Dog Care: Visitors are asked to keep dogs on a six-foot leash at all times, have current rabies vaccinations and properly dispose of all dog waste. Mutt mitt bags will be distributed at the entrance gate, and waste and water stations will be available throughout the event area.
