On Saturday, October 31, 2009, Downtown Coral Gables celebrates its 12th annual Halloween on the Mile presented by Baptist Medical Plaza at Coral Gables.
For dog lovers, a highlight of the event is the Doggie Costume Contest hosted by NBC 6’s Ryan Phillips and sponsored by The Humane Society of Greater Miami. The event is held at 3:30pm at McBride Park (located next to Barnes & Noble at 152 Miracle Mile).
Other events for the entire family including trick-or-treating at participating Downtown merchants, a scavenger hunt, scary storytelling, haunted houses and much more.
“For more than a decade, Halloween on the Mile has provided a safe atmosphere for trick-or-treating that the whole family can enjoy at no cost,” said Mari Molina, executive director of the Business Improvement District of Coral Gables. “We love giving kids the stage to be creative with both their costumes and their writing and are looking forward to another great Halloween celebration thanks to all our great sponsors and everyone who comes out to join in on the fun.”
Families are invited to kick-off Halloween on the Mile festivities at the Miracle Theatre (280 Miracle Mile) for the 2 p.m. performance of Alice in Wonderland. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at www.actorsplayhouse.org.
