Hillsboro, Texas will once again be the setting on May 1st for the annual Pet Fiesta and Chihuahua Races, now in its 3rd year. Hillsboro, known for the outlet mall along I-35, draws contestants and onlookers from across Texas to watch these tiny racers give it their best as some charge to the finish line all for a cause to help their fellow furry friends.
The event also includes live entertainment, food, free bounce house and more. There is also a pet fashion contest to compete for the title of Best Dressed pet.
Pre registrants may sign up online at OutletsatHillsboro.com or on Saturday registrants can enter from 9AM-11AM. The much-anticipated Chihuahua races are held at 2PM. Winners are determined through heats of 10 dogs per run, then the final run off determines the champion. Last year over 100 chihuahuas raced for a cause.
When: Saturday, May 1, 2010
Where: Outlets at Hillsboro, Hillsboro, Texas (just north of Waco on I-35)
For a Paws Cause: “All proceeds from the contests benefit Hill County Paw Pals. Hill County is the only county in all of Texas without an animal shelter. These tiny canines are working hard to ensure no pet is unloved or left homeless,” said Rebecca Galuppo, Marketing and Special Events Manager at Outlets at Hillsboro.
