October may have been Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month, but the fire of
enthusiasm for the campaign will continue to be stoked in November thanks to New York City firefighters at the 1st annual City of the Brave/ASPCA Softball Tournament.
Adding a touch of celebrity to the softball match, Sonja Morgan of The Real Housewives of New York City (attending with her precious poodle, Millou) will throw out the first pitch for the charity event which pits the pin-up fire fighters of 2010 against the new batch of brave men who battle blazes and bared their abs for the 2011 calendar. Showing support for the newest reality personality will be fellow ‘housewife’ Kelly Killoren Bensimon who, along with others from the BRAVO show, will cheer on the smokin’ softball players as cameras roll for an upcoming episode of The Real Housewives of NYC.
While the game will entertain sports enthusiasts, the half time show will score a home run with Rovers who are hoping to find their forever homes. During a break in the ball game, firefighters will walk the field with ASPCA dogs available for adoption. The ASPCA Mobile Adoption Center will stay on-site during the game so potential pet parents can meet their new best friends throughout the day.
When: November 6, 2010 from 1 pm – 4 pm.
Where: Verizon Athletic Field at 171 Cherry St. in lower Manhattan.
