Play for the Pups Basketball Fundraiser, Burbank, CA, April 30, 2011

A plethora of paparazzi magnets will dribble for dogs April 30th at a special celebrity basketball fundraiser for the benefit of our barking buddies at Angels in Fur Dog Rescue, a non-profit in California which rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes Rovers.

Scheduled to be among the stars to step out on to the court for the sake of Spots:

  • Orlando Brown, an actor who is a familiar face to Fido-loving kids from his stint on the Disney series That’s So Raven.
  • James Denton from the ABC hit Desperate Housewives.
  • Professional players Tony Farmer (Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors) and Carolyn Moos (former FIBA/WNBA star).
  • Scott Grimes, who formerly starred in the landmark series ER.
  • Robert “Bob” Guiney, who searched for a soul mate on the reality series The Bachelor.
  • Teen heartthrob Cody Linley, who portrayed Hannah Montana‘s boyfriend on the Disney Channel series and later waltzed into America’s hearts as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.
  • Marc McClure, who portrayed Clark Kent’s pal Jimmy Olsen in three Superman movies and Dave McFly in Back to the Future.
  • Keenan & Kel‘s Kel Mitchell.
  • Ready to show his out of this world athletic skills is actor Arjay Smith, who portrayed an extraterrestrial on Nickelodeon’s The Journey of Allen Strange.
  • Jesse Spencer, who stars in the FOX series House.

Music

When the basketball isn’t bouncing, fans can tap their feet to the beat of performances from Jeffery Dollison, a one-time Harlem Globetrotter who also appeared in the movie White Men Can’t Jump; American Idol 2010 contestant Andrew Garcia; Bailey Harrisberger, who is working with music producer Joe DiBlasi, and Chelsea Tavares, who is seen on Nickelodeon’s Unfabulous.

Sports fans can also spot stars in the stands. Scheduled to cheer on the Tinseltown teams are:

  • Star siblings Brennan (seen in the Cameron Diaz movie My Sister’s Keeper) and Preston Bailey from the Showtime series Dexter.
  • Saige Ryan Campbell, who acted alongside Mark Wahlberg in the box office hit I Heart Huckabees.
  • Jennifer Elise Cox, who stepped into the role of Jan Brady for two Brady Bunch movies.
  • Romi Dames, who Hannah Montana fans will recognize as Traci Van Horn.
  • Patricia De Leon from the TNT series Men of a Certain Age.
  • Kevin Dobson, who starred in the popular 80′s series Knot’s Landing.
  • Kenton Duty from the new Disney Channel series Shake It Up.
  • Marilyn Ghigliotti, who starred in the Kevin Smith-directed cult classic Clerks.
  • Fright flick fan favorite Irwin Keyes.
  • Ken Jenkins, who kept TV viewers in stitches as Dr. Kelso on Scrubs.
  • Josie Loren from the ABC Family series Make It or Break It.
  • Edie McClurg, a character actress who holds a place in pop culture history for her role as the school secretary in Ferris Beuller’s Day Off.
  • Emily Grace Reaves, who was a cast member in the Disney film Hannah Montana: The Movie.
  • Flashback to the 70′s with a sighting of Rodney Allen Ripey, who became famous in a series of Jack in the Box commercials.
  • Character actress Mindy Sterling, whose roles range from Frau Frabissina in the Austin Powers film franchise to her recent work on Desperate Housewives.

Comedienne Debra Wilson (MADtv) will emcee the event.

Admission: Advance tickets are now on sale for $12.50 for adults and $7.50 for children under the age of 12. At the door, tickets will be on sale for $15 per adult and $10 per child under the age of 12. VIP tickets, which include a meet and greet, are also available.

When: April 30, 2011, beginning with a VIP meet and greet from 10:45 – noon.
