A plethora of pooches and their pledge-collecting pet parents will promenade on a 1.9-mile path for the sake of homeless animals at the Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter’s 6th annual Mutt Strut and Pet Expo in Dearborn, Michigan.
The mutt strut is but one of a multitude of tail-wagging activities lined up for the two-day Fido fete. Dog devotees can also enjoy:
- A demonstration by former Detroit Tigers pitcher Milt Wilcox and his dock-jumping dogs in the Ultimate Air Dogs show.
- A heart-warming Chihuahua reunion, featuring Chihuahua dogs rescued in 2009.
- An Adopted Dog Birthday Paw-ty.
- A caricaturist’s rendering of your Rover.
- An education on doggie demeanor from dog trainer and behaviorist, Linda Thomas.
- The Doggie Fun Zone, where canine competitors can show off their fancy footwork in a freestyle dance with their parent and find out who is top dog in a number of contests.
- The Friends Fido’s Fit Club, a support group for Spots who want to stay in shape.
- The Doggie Health Zone, complete with a microchip clinic and mini health screenings.
- Exhibitors featuring pet-and environment-safe products and services.
- Shopping for souvenirs among vendor booths brimming with pet-themed merchandise.
