If you’ve been waiting for the perfect chance to adopt that new dog or cat, mark your calendar for Saturday, August 6, 2011 as the Humane Society of Williamson County (HSWC) presents the “Mega No-Fee Adoption Event” at the HSWC shelter in Leander.
During the event, lots of cats and dogs will be on hand to find their new homes and adoption fees will be waived (although adopters will still need to complete the usual adoption application and be approved). There will also be entertainment, kids’ activities, Ask-a-Vet and Ask-a-Trainer booths, pet product vendors, and food and drink concessions.
The event is part of the 2011 ASPCA $100K Challenge during which 50 nationwide animal shelters will compete for a $100,000 grant for the shelter which adopts the most pets between August and October, 2011. The ASPCA $100K Challenge is designed to encourage pet adoption by rewarding shelters and their communities which demonstrate active involvement in helping homeless pets.
“The ASPCA $100K Challenge is a great motivator for our teams, organizations, citizens and local businesses to get involved – to help connect hundreds of beautiful, fun, loving cats and dogs in our shelter system with new forever families,” said Eran Fehily, HSWC Community Relations Manager.
The Humane Society of Williamson County is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization which is funded solely by donations, grants, and fees.
When: Saturday, August 6; 1 to 4 p.m.
Where: Humane Society of Williamson County, 10930 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas
