Party with your Pittie (or any breed of barking buddy) during a day devoted to music, art and man’s best friend. Hosted by Saving Sunny, Inc.– a Louisville, Kentucky non-profit which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes dogs who have been victims of abuse, neglect or are in kill shelters– the free event will shine a positive light on bully breeds.
Celebrity Spotting
- Currently on a 19-city tour to raise awareness of the plight of bully breed bigotry, Animal Planet personality Shorty Rossi of Pit Boss fame and his four-pawed pal Hercules will make a ‘Pit’ stop at the Fido-friendly festival.
- Founding member of The Sula Foundation, author Ken Foster will sign copies of his touching tome “The Dogs Who Found Me.”
Activities
- Dogs will don duds for the chance to win the Pit Bull Costume Contest.
- Get a smooch from a pooch as the organization’s mascot Sunny, a Pit Bull saved from the Ohio River after being tossed from the Clark Memorial Bridge, gives the public a little puppy love at her own kissing booth.
- Looking for a four-legged forever friend? Adorable adoptables from local rescues are attending the event.
- Have your canine companion’s coif tamed by Shaggy Dog Mobile Pet Grooming.
- Enjoy toe-tapping and tail-wagging tunes from an array of musical acts including Leigh Ann Yost, Nick Peay, Sam Hadfield, Alanna Fugate and Jamison Taylor French.
- Chow down on fare from food trucks featuring summertime staples such as burgers and ice cream as well as vegan menu items.
- Animal-loving little ones will have fun in the “Kid Pit”.
