San Antonio Pet Expo, San Antonio, TX, July 23, 2011

Animal lovers will flock to the Alamo City for the San Antonio Pet Expo, a free event dedicated to our furry friends.

Celebrity Spotting

Animal Planet personality Shorty Rossi from the hit series Pit Boss will make a pit stop at the expo with his Pittie pal Hercules to promote all the positive aspects of bully breeds. Shorty will speak to the audience about the importance of adoption and the battle against BSL, sign autographs and pose for photos.

Celebrity pet expert and National Spokesperson for the Toyota Pet Safety Tour, Harrison Forbes will be on hand to offer advice in a Q&A session.

Contests

• Dress your four-pawed pal in doggie duds for a chance to win the Pet Costume Contest. Pups will pose before an appreciative audience who will determine the winners in the Best Pet/Owner Duo, Best Large Pet Costume, Best Small Pet Costume, Most Creative, Silliest Costume and Kid’s Choice categories.
• Your Rover can razzle dazzle the audience at Animals Got Talent! Pet Talent Contest.
• A favorite game of childhood with a tail-wagging twist, pooches and their human parents can participate in the Pet/Owner Musical Chairs Contest.

Adoption

Find a barking BFF or feline friend at the Mega-Adoption Event, which will showcase adorable adoptables from a variety of rescue groups. At the end of the expo Alamo Area Partners in Animal Welfare will announce the number of pets who found forever homes at the event.

Demonstrations

• Skilled Spots will show off their doggie dexterity in agility demonstrations presented by Rob Cary Pet Resort.
• For a well-coifed canine or cat, check out Easy Grooming 101, where pet parents will learn how to keep your tail-wagger looking tip-top between grooming sessions as well as how to give your pup a proper “paw”dicure.
• Learn how to save Spot’s life during a Pet CPR and First Aid Instruction presentation.
