Puppy Mill Awareness Day Austin, September 25, 2011

Considered one of America’s most dog-friendly cities, animal lovers in Austin will show their support for Spots in dire straits at Puppy Mill Awareness Day Austin, a day dedicated to spreading the message “Adopt, Don’t Shop.”

Celebrity Spotting

The free, Fido-friendly gathering, presented by Paws of Austin and Last Chance for Animals, will feature a number of notables who will use their star wattage to shine a spotlight on the heart-breaking situation, including:

  • Poison drummer/long-time animal activist Rikki Rockett
  • The members of Rescue Ink of New York
  • Last Chance for Animals’ President Chris DeRose
  • A special surprise appearance from an Austin celebrity (whose identity is still a secret)

Parade

Promenading for the sake of canines still in cages, the puppy mill survivor parade will be a moving sight.

For the Kids

Passing the passion for compassion for pets on to the next generation, Puppy Mill Awareness Day will feature fun children’s activities.

Live Music

An event held in the Live Music Capital of the World wouldn’t be complete without a rockin’ beat. Greezy Wheel, More Cowbell, Rattletree and Ugly Elephant are scheduled to take the stage.

Shopping

Pet parents can peruse for Rover-related purchases among a vast array of vendor booths. Scheduled to set up shop for the day are The Pet Studio, Petco, Hey Pet Goodies, Up with Mutts, Haute Dog Magazine, Dogadillo and many more.
