Like the Joni Mitchell-penned ’60s anthem, everywhere there will be song and celebration at the 16th annual Woofstock, a day of play in the park for the sake of a no-kill shelter, the Sequoia Humane Society.
Activities
- Raising funds for the Fidos and felines of Sequoia Humane Society, participants and their pooches will promenade from Halvorsen Park to the Eureka Boardwalk in the Mutt Strut Parade. For their philanthropic effort, strollers and their Spots can walk into Woofstock for free.
- Who will be top dog in the dog contests? Fashion-forward Fidos will try on doggie duds in the Best Costume category, happy hounds will wiggle their rears in the Best Wag competition, pet parents and their pups will pose together for the Dog/Guardian Look-A-Like contest, and cuddly canines will melt hearts in the Cutest Dog competition, while the Weenie Dunking Contest takes place all day.
- From Woodstock to Woofstock, ’60s sensation Canned Heat will make the gathering groovy as they belt out blues-rock hits like “Going Up the Country” and “On the Road Again” for our barking buddies. Three other animal-loving acts will also take the stage– Vintage Soul, Li’l Lynne and Monte Mar.
- Just because Woofstock is a Fido-friendly festival doesn’t mean that our pals who purr will be forgotten. Pet parents can enter a snapshot of their cat in the Feline Photo Olympics by uploading the photo on a contest page. For a $1 donation for each vote, feline aficionados can cast their vote for their favorite pretty kitty.
- A raffle and silent auction, featuring prizes ranging from a guitar to pet products, will also raise much-needed money for the no-kill shelter.
