On October 8 – 9, 2011, Petco™ and Unleashed by Petco stores across the U.S. will celebrate the many families who have adopted pets through Petco and the Petco Foundation’s animal welfare group partners. Petco’s first annual “National Adoption Reunion” is a way to honor adopters and to encourage more pet adoptions.
People who have adopted through Petco are invited with their pets to Petco locations for fun activities including free photos with their pets. Each day of the event, the first 50 attendees at each location will also be awarded a “National Adoption Celebration” commemorative charm for their pet’s collar. And, for those looking to adopt, there will be lots of adoptable pets on hand ready to steal their hearts.
The celebration will kick off with a unique event on October 4, 2011 in New York’s Central Park where Petco hopes to break the Guinness World Record for “Largest Gathering of Adopted Shelter Animals.”
“Petco has always been a strong advocate of pet adoption and the anniversary events are really meant to reinforce the human-animal bond that is so important to us,” says Greg Seremetis, Vice President of Marketing for Petco. “We hope that by creating a national community of adoption supporters and sharing their touching personal stories, we will inspire others to consider pet adoption and volunteer, ultimately finding homes for the millions of shelter animals.”
And there are even more ways to help Petco celebrate pet adoptions.
- Between now and October 31, 2011, upload photos and stories about your adopted pet to www.petco.com/reunion. By sharing your experience, you’ll encourage others to adopt a homeless pet. You’ll also be entered to win prizes and the chance to have your pet featured in a Petco advertising campaign. And, for each story and photo uploaded, Petco will donate $1 to animal adoption organizations.
